MINI-SERIES:

BATMAN BEYOND MS #1   NOT ON MY WATCH
summary: adapted from the first part of 'Rebirth'
comments: excellent art but the whole story seems rather rushed and some important scenes from the pilot are left behind..
rating: 3/5

BATMAN BEYOND MS #2   I AM BATMAN
summary: adaptation of the second part of 'Rebirth'
comments: cf part 1
rating:
3/5

BATMAN BEYOND MS #3    NEVER MIX, NEVER WORRY
summary: Blight is up to no good as he searches for elements necessary for creating a device that could drain the energyfrom anyhting.
comments: good art and interesting enough plot. For once a good issue.
rating: 4/5

BATMAN BEYOND MS #4    MAGIC IS EVERYWHERE
summary: Etrigan returns to face his nemesis Axilano.
comments: a truly bad work from Staton and Bader and a very disappointing Etrigan appearance.Thank god, Bader didn't write an episode out of this plot!
rating:
1.5/5

BATMAN BEYOND MS #5    MUMMY, OH! AND JULIET
summary: Terry must face an ancient mummy that attemts to kidnapp Dana.
comments: promising story but the art isn't that great and the plot a little rushed.
rating: 2.5/5

summary: Something seems to have gone horribly wrong with Terry McGinnis and now, as Batman, he's gone on a spree of terror, wreaking havoc on Gotham City. Bruce Wayne determines that the only way to stop him is to once again don the garb of the Dark Knight and bring down the new Batman.
comments: excellent story by Bader, terrific art by Craig Rousseau. A perfect start for the ongoing series.
rating:
5/5

BATMAN BEYOND #2    EBONY TEARS
summary:The shadowy villainess known as Inque has found a way to get Gotham's citizens to commit her crimes for her. She hopes to use the ill-gotten gains to finance a cure for her inhuman condition, but she doesn't realize that becoming human again may cost more than just money.
comments: great art but this Inque story seemed rather "déjà-vu" to me. Overall a great issue though.
rating: 3.5/5

BATMAN BEYOND #3    ZOOLOGICALLY SPEAKING
summary: It's the return of Dr. Cuvier as Batman discovers that the splicing fad isn't over. Batman encounters new spliced people but he finds out that Cuvier's new plan is much more threatening than before.
comments: pretty good art and an average story. Not great, not bad. Average.
quote: Bruce: Being human is the hardest road to happiness.
rating:
3/5

BATMAN BEYOND #3 (non-published)
summary:It's the return of the Terrific Trio (last seen on the Kids' WB! animated series)! 2-D Man and Magma, the two surviving members of Gotham City's super-hero team of the future, are in custody after going berserk. But strange messages from Freon, their dead teammate, lead them to break out and initiate experiments to reassamble her...using Batman as the energy source!

little fact: apparently this issue wasn't published because the Terrific Trio looked too much like the Fantastic Four... Still, I was able to get a sneak peek at the pencils and they are fantastic!

BATMAN BEYOND #4    TWO OF A KIND
summary: The Royal Flush Gang is at it again. Or are they? After Batman tangles with several gang members who are supposedly in custody, he checks into it and discovers that they're all still behind bars!
comments: A weird story. Pretty lame actually. The art is still good but this issue definitely lacks a good plot.
rating:
2.5/5

BATMAN BEYOND #5    PERFECT PITCH
summary: Leaping from the TV screen: the sound-manipulating villain called Shriek! Deafened and imprisoned after his defeat by Batman, Dr. Shreeve has escaped! Now he's developed a device that uses sound waves to disrupt and disintegrate Batman's equipment... and he's a decibel away from destroying the Bat-suit and the man underneath
comments: beautiful art, terrific plot and story: an excellent issue.
rating: 5/5

BATMAN BEYOND #6    MOST DANGEROUS ISLAND
summary: When Terry McGinnis and his friends try to go on a quiet camping trip to a river island near Gotham, they enter a lost world of genetically altered creatures kept prisoner there for the amusement of the world's most dangerous gamehunter: Stalker!
comments: a poor (really poor!) story and plot but good art (as usual with C.R.)
rating: 2.5/5

BATMAN BEYOND #7    MCGUINNIS' SECRET
summary: Batman takes on the Jokerz gang to save the life of...Terry McGinnis? Nothing is what it seems as Terry learns the secret connection between Batman and his brother, Matt, forcing him to doubt everything he believes in.
comments: the art is pretty good, interesting story but it's not that well written.
rating:
3/5

BATMAN BEYOND #8    VENDETTA
summary: Batman faces the super-human terrorist Vendetta as he wages war against the Wayne-Powers Corporation, and she'll destroy anything and anyone that gets in her way. But who is she, and why is she doing this?
comments: original story (Vendetta's character is a good idea) but Rousseau's art is far from his best work:on second thought (=)) it's not that bad but it is disappointing (considering that beautiful cover for example)
rating: 3/5

BATMAN BEYOND #9   THE LAST OF HER KIND
summary:  Batman's intervention in a failed assasination puts him on the trail of a group of young martial artists creating a ruckus in Gotham City. Can Batman defeat their leader, Curare, the ultimate assassin?
comments: Great art (and terrific cover!) but this time, the story is rather cheesy and never seems to take off. So the plot gets boring very fast.
rating: 2.5/5

BATMAN BEYOND #10   TOY WONDER
summary: What's the connection between the new and improved Golem robot terrorizing Gotham City and a young autistic boy? Batman races against time to put an end to the menace of the Golem with the relationship between a father and son hanging in the balance.
comments: The art is very well done but, as usual, there's something wrong with the story: the plot is good though but the ending is completely rushed and disappointing. And the dialogues are rather poor.
rating: 3/5

BATMAN BEYOND #11   THE PERFECT YOU
summary: Beauty becomes more than skin deep when Gotham's teens start using nanotechnology to improve their bodies. Unfortunately, they become enslaved to the technology's hive-mind intelligence. Can Batman defeat the enemy without hurting the children of the city?

comments: Let's start by the art: good but not flawless (along with certain disproportionned bodies). Now the story: UGH! In one word: amazingly lame.
rating: 2/5

BATMAN BEYOND #12
    TERMINAL VELOCITY
summary: The villain formerly known as Terminal has been cured of his evil persona, but his former gang of Jokerz will stop at nothing to turn him back to his criminal self. Can Batman keep him on the straight and narrow?

comments: Terrific cover by R. Del Carmen, outstanding art by Craig Rousseau, and even the story is good for once! Well, not great, since Terminal's character is obviously inspired from Two-Face (and the Ventriloquist). Still, it's much better written than usual (with a cool ending)
rating: 4/5

BATMAN BEYOND #13   COMMISSIONER OF FEAR
summary: Commissioner Barbara Gordon is troubled by hallucinations that stem from a fight with the Scarecrow back in her days as Batgirl. With a kidnapped child's life at stake, Barbara will need the help of Batman to survive the night.

comments: the best BB cover yet, some irregular art (half decent, half terrific), and an extremely well written story along with an originality that usually lacks in this title. Overall a great read.
rating: 4/5

BATMAN BEYOND #14  MAY FLIGHTS OF DEMONS SING THEE TO THY REST
summary: Etrigan the Demon guest-stars. Halloween time has come around, bringing mischief, mayhem and downright evil to the future Gotham City. Batman can't handle it all alone - but will the unstoppable and unpredictable Etrigan be of any help, or will he just his fun on All Hallows' Eve?

comments: Great cover, great art (Min Ku's Etrigan is awesome!) and not so good story. Actually the whole "dream-demon" thing is stupid and the dialogues are too painful to read! (too long, useless, boring...)
rating: 2.5/5

BATMAN BEYOND #15   LIGHTNING AND RAIN
summary: Just who is the mysterious new being called Erica Electra who's been crossing paths with future Batman Terry McGinnis? Is she friend or foe? And will Terry's girlfriend now have reasons to be jealous?

comments: Very beautiful art. Craig is the Man! As for the story... ah well it seems like this title is cursed: the story isn't great at all - pretty boring to tell ya the truth. Are we supposed to care for this Electra girl??
rating:
3/5

BATMAN BEYOND #16    SNAKE FOOD
summary: Homeless men have been mysteriously disappearing from Gotham's streets, thanks to the international terrorist group known as Kobra. But as Batman Terry McGinnis investigates, he quickly goes from hunter to hunted -- and Bruce must somehow infiltrate Kobra to free the captured hero.

comments: The story, as usual, is lacking, but it's not bad either. Although it's very reminiscent of The Forgotten episode, it gives Bruce a larger role, which is welcome. The art is good too, but a bit irregular...
rating: 4/5

 BATMAN BEYOND # 17   A SINKING SHIP
summary: A former classmate comes back looking for revenge after being brushed off by Dana. But Batman Terry McGinnis won't let one hair of Dana's head be harmed, even if it means being swamped by rats.

comments: The story could have been worse... it looks way too much like the Rats episode but on the whole, it was pretty well written. And Craig provides some of his best art!
rating: 3.5/5

BATMAN BEYOND #18   PREY OR HUNTER...
summary: The Stalker comes to Gotham with a surprise for Batman: the return of Blight. Derek Powers, the man responsible for the death of Terry's father has been lured back to Gotham by the Stalker, and has one thing on his mind: revenge. Can Batman survive the double-team of the Stalker and Blight?

comments: Finally an excellent issue. Clever story, beautiful art, and the return of Blight!
rating: 5/5

BATMAN BEYOND #19   ROYAL MAYHEM
summary: Ma Mayhem's boys, Carl and Slim, have just busted their dear old Ma out of jail so they can spend some time with her -- oh, and perhaps plan a kidnapping or two! This dysfunctional family is up to no good, and it's up to Batman to put an end to their family reunion.

comments: Nothing lasts forever... despite the incredible job Craig provides, the issue is worse than mediocre. Batman/Terry seems to be a bystander in a poor story based on a shabby AND cliched "pro human rights" plot.
rating: 2/5

BATMAN BEYOND #20   NEW JOKERZ 'N' OLD FRIENDZ
summary: Terry comes across a childhood friend who has started to run with the wrong crowd, specifically the gang known as the Jokerz. Can Terry keep his old friend from going down the wrong path and beginning a life of crime -- or is this a job for Batman?

comments: Well, not an bad issue at all! Despite definite similarities between the Big Time episode and this issue's overall plot, the story is very entertaining and Craig Rousseau's art is just fabulous!
rating: 4/5

BATMAN BEYOND #21
summary: One of the most popular episodes of the Batman Beyond cartoon show featured a futuristic version of the JLA -- the Justice League Unlimited -- and now they appear for the first time in a comic book. Batman teams up with the JLU in a high-voltage adventure as they battle a new villain called Blacklight.

comments:
Great issue! The story is solid, despite the absence of Superman and Micron. Characterization is handled perfectly and all characters interact well. It's also nice to see Rick Burchett back on an animated title.
rating: 5/5

BATMAN BEYOND #22
summary: The conclusion to "In Blackest Day," guest-starring the Justice League Unlimited. Batman and the JLU battle the strange new threat called Blacklight for the life and power of JLU member Green Lantern

BATMAN BEYOND #24
